With many illustrations (several in colours). 384 pp. Thesis. - The precious sandalwood trees, which grew almost exclusively on Timor, were part of a trade cycle. Iron from Japan was forged into knives. These knives were then traded on Timor for sandalwood, which was then traded for Chinese silk in Batavia.
