Dabei wurde Ende November 1898 die Bouvet-Insel wider aufgefunden .. Längst der Packeisgrenze wurde die Fährt ostwärts nach den Kerguelen fortgesetzt. Über Neu-Amsterdam und die Cocos-Insel ging es nach Sumatra, von wo aus der Indische Ozean ein zweites Mal, über die Nikobaren, Ceylon, die Chagos-Bank, die Seychellen, nach Daressalam durchschnitten wurde.
